Yarn Spinner 3 includes a wide range of great new features. Learn about them here.

Yarn Spinner 3 has many new features. While everything that existed in Yarn Spinner 2.x should largely keep working the same way in Yarn Spinner 3, there's so many new things that we thought we'd highlight them separately!

This version of the documentation (docs.yarnspinner.dev/next) is for the current beta version of Yarn Spinner 3 (Beta 1). For Yarn Spinner 2.x, visit https://docs.yarnspinner.dev

To use Yarn Spinner 3 for Unity and Yarn Spinner 3 for Visual Studio Code, you'll need to install it.

New Language Features

• once statements, allowing you to only run content a single time

• detour statements, for briefly jumping to another node, then returning

• line groups, allowing you to create a collection of lines that Yarn Spinner will choose from for you

• node groups, for creating a collection of nodes that Yarn Spinner will choose from under certain conditions

• an enum type, for defining variables with a pre-defined constrained set of possibilities

• smart variables that determine their value at run-time

• shadow lines for reusing lines

Yarn Spinner 3 is currently only available for Unity and Visual Studio Code. Other platforms and tools to follow, in the full release.
